Jonas Hud was possibly born ion 22 Dec. 1760 in Fallköping, Hudene Parish, Sweden.Other possible birth dates are Oct. 10 or Dec. *) He was a farmhand as a young man, joined the army in 1790 (until 1805). In those days, young men received a soldatorp, or soldier’s allotment. The local farmers paid for his support and he was given a house, some land, and seed for the crops. He lived there unless he was called to fight.
He married Maria Andersdotter (1758-1798) in 28 Jul 1780. When she died, he married Ingrid Larsdotter (6 Jan 1765-1826) in about 1800. According to one person’s records on disbys.dis.se (not Arkiv Digital), he had three children, Johannes in 1801, Anders in 1803, and Lars in 1806. Ingrid died of “dropsy” or heart failure, in 1826. Her father’s name was Lars Nilsson (1688-1790).
